WHAT MIGHT MATTER: MATERIALITY AND IMMATERIALITY IN ARTISTS' ONLINE PRESENCE

 Last July 21, the CCP VAMD presented “What might matter: materiality and immateriality in artists' online presence,” an online curators' dialogue featuring John Kenneth Paranada and Marian Pastor Roces. The notion of an “artistic community,” which has gained currency in art talk globally, is among the bodied/disembodied points of interest; as are post-pandemic realities, transnational biographical arcs, the re-emergent Right in a world with unstable coordinates, and so forth. Intergenerational independent curators Paranada and Roces scan the fraught fields looking for what might matter in a world gone berserk. This conversation is a public program in line with the ongoing online exhibition The Collection of Jane Ryan and William Saunders: Jewelry in Augmented Reality by Pio Abad and Frances Wadsworth Jones. This inaugural exhibition of 21AM, the new museum of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, encourages some curiosity about art's political and aesthetic exercises in communities created within and enabled by online media.
